Russian avant-garde exhibition in France

An exhibition of Russian avant-garde opened in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the south of France, on Friday.

This is the largest exhibition of the Russian avant-garde in France, Liberation newspaper said. The famous MAKT art foundation presents 150 paintings by the most outstanding avant-gadrists made in 1908-1930. The exhibition features paintings by Mark Chagal, Ilya Mashkov and Mikhail Larionov and works by Kasimir Malevich from the so-called "Peasant Cycle". Visitors can also see his ather famous paintings, such as "Reaper" (1920) and "Hay-Maker" (1912).

In addition, the exhibition presents works by Russian famous female avant-gardists Olga Rozanova, Natalia Gonchakova and Nadezhda Udaltsova. This is the first large exposition of female artists of that period, Liberation said.

The famous "Cyclist" (1913) by Gonchakova and "Man+Air+Space" (1913) by Lyubov Popova deserve special attention.

The exhibition will last till November 5.
