Russians will have a chance to see Gina Lollobrigida, the famous Italian actress, with new eyes. The fact is, she has taken an opportunity of the Moscow International Film Festival to open an exhibition of her own sculptures. The still-beautiful 75-year-old will exhibit them in a prestigious place-at the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.
It is logical to suggest that few will be left indifferent, even more so since Gina often sculptures on the basis of her own life, which was linked to cinema for more than half a century.
According to museum staff, 38 of Lollobrigida's sculptures are "entirely new for the Russian viewer." The actress's sculpting and drawing career began when she was still a child. As a young girl, she helped her not very rich family by selling the caricatures she had drawn herself. Further on, she went to the Academy of Fine Arts. As soon as her acting career was over, she began sculpting again.
Gina's connection with cinema is all the more prominent since she uses color filters to sort of light up the classical forms. Therefore it is an enchanting spectacle that awaits visitors of the exhibition.
The actress, who says her motto is "joy of life," is convinced that all art must have a "positive charge."
