The first international festival of photography opened in Samara, the central Volga Region, Tuesday.
The festival of photographic art, attended by 24 participants from 12 countries of Europe, Asia and America, was organized by the State Museum-and-Exhibition Center "Rosizo" of the Russian Culture Ministry and the board of the International Festival "Photofept" in Houston, USA, which is one of the world's most respected photo-forums.
The exhibits will be displayed at the Samara Regional Art Museum, and in the near-by town of Togliatti. The latter will host the large exposition "This is New York: Photos Taken by People." This exposition of over 500 photos taken by New Yorkers after the September 11 tragedy, has already toured 31 cities and towns in 10 countries.
The International Festival of Photography in Samara is the first such event in Russia's regions. Its main goal is to bring closer the Russian regional art museums' practices and the modern world artistic process realities.
