The decision of the Rodina (Motherland) parliamentary group to dismiss Sergey Glazyev from the post of its leader does not contradict the regulations on the State Duma's work, State Duma Deputy Speaker Vladimir Pekhtin of the United Russia parliamentary group told reporters today. He underlined that Glazyev's dismissal, "is an exclusively internal affair of the Rodina faction, especially given the fact that most of its members (22 of 38) have voted for the replacement of the leader." In terms of the State Duma regulations, they were definitely entitled to do this, Pekhtin underlined.
In his opinion, the decision to recall Dmitry Rogozin from the Duma Council and the post of Deputy Speaker and Rodina's proposal to replace him with Sergey Baburin were also quite lawful. However, this decision should be approved at a plenary meeting of the State Duma, Pekhtin pointed out.
