Russian Press Minister Mikhail Lesin congratulated the Golos Rossii (the Voice of Russia) radio station /the former International Moscow Radio) on the 74th anniversary of its creation.
"Golos Rossii is one of the most authoritative broadcasting companies both in Russia and abroad. Today it holds the third place in the rating of the largest international broadcasters and its audience is 100 million people," the minister noted.
"Due to high professional skills foreign listeners from 160 countries consider the radio station a convenient and democratic channel giving interesting information on Russia's life," he stressed.
"Golos Rossii as one of the largest international broadcasters has started daily broadcastings to Europe in the DRM digital format," the press minister said.
Since July 1996 the radio station has been working on the Internet in eight languages. The Internet broadcasting in video format began since May 2003.
"Due to the realisation of creative and managing potential of the company the audience of the Golos Rossii radio station is annually growing and refreshing," Mikhail Lesin noted.
