The incident of the submarine sunk in the Barents Sea will be thoroughly investigated, Russian President Vladimir Putin, currently on a working visit to Sardinia at the invitation from Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, told journalists on Saturday.
"A thorough investigation will be launched," the president stressed.
"The Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief is already there, his plane landed an hour ago. The Russian defence minister will fly there in the evening," Putin reported.
The K-159 submarine sunk in the Barents Sea at 4.00 Moscow time during its towing to an utilisation facility.
