Yesterday late at night, the Chechen Election Commission gave new data about the number of the candidates for the presidency in the republic.
Out of the 13 contenders, 11 have remained, said by telephone chairman of the republican election commission Abdul-Kerim Arsakhanov. According to him, the two other candidates did not have enough signatures of the constituents in their support.
In accordance with the law on elections, the number of the signatures must equal two percent of the number of the constituents, that is, not less than 11,000 people must support the candidate who contends for the presidential post.
The presidential elections have been scheduled for October 5. The head of the present administration, Ahmad Kadyrov, has the greatest chances.
