LUKoil launches production of new jet fuel

LUKoil has begun production of its new Jet A-1 aviation fuel at the LUKoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez plant in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. According to LUKoil's regional press office, the Jet A-1 fuel will be sold to foreign airlines that fly regularly to Russian airports. The company plans to begin supplying the fuel later this year.

In 2001 LUKoil joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA), after which it received documentation detailing rules for the production, transport and storage of jet fuel. In May 2003 the company's production methods were approved at a meeting of an IATA working group.
