Private companies to participate in reconstruction of gas pipelines

Several independent gas producers agreed to participate in the reconstruction of the Russian gas-pipeline system, Mikhail Akselrod, a Gazprom Executive Officer, announced at a press conference in Moscow today. However, he did not specify the names of the companies. He also reported that Gazprom was holding negotiations on participation in the reconstruction with Russian oil majors LUKoil, Rosneft and YUKOS.

Earlier, representatives of the Russian gas monopolist Gazprom were quoted as saying that investments of independent gas producers in reconstruction operations should be proportional to the volume of gas they transported via pipelines.
