Moscow accepts participation of peacekeeping forces in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
"We believe international presence is a positive and stabilising factor. It could play a similar role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko stated in his interview with RIA Novosti.
According to Yakovenko, international presence has repeatedly justified hopes in the context of the Middle East situation, for example, UN forces on separation in the Golan Heights, multinational forces on the Mount Sinai, temporary UN forces in the south of Lebanon and others.
Yakovenko also pointed out that due to the acuteness of the situation and especial complication of the current problems certain forms and parameters of such exterior assistance must "be worked out thoroughly ".
"It is also obvious that in order to ensure effective international participation both conflicting parties' consent is needed," the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed.
