At today's euro special session with today settlements the weighted average exchange rate amounted to 35.54 RUR/EUR, advancing RUR0.18 against the ruble and to a certain extent gaining its positions it lost yesterday. On June 19, the euro rate plummeted RUR0.45.
Commercial bank dealers believe that the reason for this weakening of the Russian ruble against the euro is a slight strengthening of the euro against the dollar on world markets. Yesterday, the euro could be bought for $1.16, while today this figure is $1.17. At the same time, specialists point to the fact that the trade volume at the ruble/euro trade on MICEX has been extremely insignificant. Today's volume of the UTS with today settlements was EUR8.5m, which was an average trade volume since the euro trade had started on the exchange.
