Gazprom's subsidiary Gazexport delivered 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas abroad (excluding the CIS) over the last ten years, Gazprom's press service reported. The currency returns for this period exceeded $87.9bn. Total exports amounted to 2.45 trillion cubic meters of gas since the year 1973, when the company was founded.
Gazexport's long-term contracts with Western European gas buyers serve Gazprom as a cover for credits it needs to finance reconstruction, upgrading and development of Russian gas transportation networks.
At present, Gazprom supplies natural gas to twenty one countries in Western and Central Europe, as well as Ukraine and Moldova. The volume of gas expюrts came to 130.6bn cubic meters of gas in 2002.
