Russian invalids will take part in a transcontinental car race called Boomerang, which starts off from Vladivostok, Samara and Murmansk in June, reported a source in the Invalids Rehabilitation Department of the Labor and Social Development Ministry of Karelia, one of the organizers of the race in the region.
Participants in the race, which involves four vehicles from each of the aforementioned cities, will cross 52 towns along the 15,000 kilometer route. Other invalids living in each of these towns will be able to join in on their personal cars. The race will be accompanied by various actions and collecting of signatures under Invalids' Supporting Address to the Russian leadership.
The race is dedicated to the European Year of Invalids and is meant to attract the attention of politicians, public figures and the rest of the population to the problems of people with limited abilities.
The race, which was organized by the All-Russia Invalids' Society, rounds off on August 17 in Moscow, a city hosting an All-Russia Youth Forum for Invalids.
