Russian Defence Minister Sergey Ivanov took part in a ceremony of post-repairs launching of a missile-guided undersea cruiser in Severodvinsk, a satellite city on the Black sea coast.
The minister is to visit the Sevmash shipyards to watch the strategic cruiser of the 941-U project being put into water. According to Sevmash chief engineer Vladimir Pastukhov, the submarine which was on combat duty in the 1980s was for a certain period out of operation and then repaired by the Sevmash plant to be fit for mounting new equipment. The Arctic fleet command passed the decision to name the submarine "Dmitry Donskoi".
Sergei Ivanov is also to conduct a conference behind closed doors with the executives of the Sevmash and Zvezdochka shipyards and the central design bureau Rubin. Under review will be wider utilization of the capacities of these pivotal enterprises.
