Counting chambers may expand their punitive functions

5 billion rubles of budget funds were wasted in Irkutsk region of Russia within the last four years. This sum is equal to the annual budget of the region. Only 500 million rubles (one tenth of the wasted money) were returned to the treasury. According to Vasily Mitrofanov, the head of the Count Chamber of the region, the effectiveness of the work of the revision service improved due to its co-operation with the Legislative committee of Irkutsk region. Deputies approved his proposal to intensify punitive functions of the Count Chamber, “Volna Baikala” reports. To all appearances, this statement, made just before the regional election campaign, do not only refer to Irkutsk region: the leaders of such departments, as regional Count Chamber, usually do not express their points of view unless they correspond to the opinion of the highest ranks.
