The Bolshe-Khekhtsirsky state nature preserve in the Russian Far East is holding open-door days this Saturday and Sunday. The programme of the event includes familiarisation of the visitors with the flora and fauna of this unique place in the vicinity of Khabarovsk, a festival of nature lovers, schoolchildren's competitions, and Birds' Day. Alexander Istegeichev, representative of the Far Eastern natural resources department for public relations, said that the open-door days were organised to coincide with the March of Parks international event which was being held all across the world from April 18 to 22. The aim of the event is to promote nature conservation ideas and disseminate ecological knowledge among the population, he stressed.
