The executive committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is going to revive inter-state cooperation in the light industry, Usen Sydykov, deputy chairman of the executive committee and CIS executive secretary, said on Friday. Until now the commonwealth has not had either an inter-state council or any other body concerned with cooperation between member-countries in the light industry. The first three-way meeting will be held in Moscow on Friday under the aegis of the CIS executive committee and will be attended by Russia and Byelorussia. Following it, within the next 2 to 3 months, the sides plan to draw up key documents on cooperation in the light industry. According to Sydykov, the idea is to set up an inter-state body on a voluntary basis to deal with details of cooperation in the light industry at CIS head of government level. It may be an inter-state production council or a corporation that will bring together producers, purveyors and consumers of raw materials and products. Sydykov noted that Central Asian countries also show a serious interest in the revival of inter-state cooperation on the light industry market. This cooperation covers mutual deliveries of raw materials, finished products, equipment, spare parts and dyes.
