Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with head of the Federal Tax Police Service /FSNP/ Mikhail Fradkov. As press secretary of the head of state Alexei Gromov said, the question of strengthening and development of the FSNP as a law-enforcement body dominated the meeting. Fradkov reported to the head of state about the guidelines of his department's work and the measures to improve its structure and to specify tasks to the territorial bodies which are the main operating elements of the FSNP, as well as the measures to optimise the central apparatus and to strengthen the analytical direction. Vladimir Putin highlighted the necessity of enhancing effectiveness of the FSNP's work. The Federal Tax Police Service is a serious instrument which should be rightly used, the President emphasized. It is necessary for the tax police to correctly build its relations with business, Putin stated. The task is to create such conditions in which it would be profitable for entrepreneurs "to work by law, observing law". Vladimir Putin holds the view that besides that, along with ensuring the country's economic security and exposing crimes, another important task of the FSNP is to work out recommendations for the economic Ministries and departments with a view to removing obstacles to the development of entrepreneurship and creating a favourable business climate.
