Daghestani law-enforcers apprehended a member of an Urus-Martan kidnapping group on Chechen territory on Thursday, April 19th. The name of the detainee has not been released in the interests of the investigation. The Urus-Martan kidnapping ring at one time held special forces police major Usamat Gazilov. He spent eighteen months in captivity. His repeated attempts to escape from the bandits were unsuccessful, as he was re-captured. His health deteriorated significantly as a result of his illegal incarceration. Gazilov was freed by a special operation last year and is continuing his service with the police. Operations are being conducted to identify and arrest more members of the kidnapping ring.
