The For Global Mutual Understanding prize of 10,000 dollars has been conferred on ex-president of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev who is now staying in Atlanta (Georgia). The prize was instituted by the American airlines Delta Airlines and is annually awarded by the university of Georgia state to well-known world leaders. As RIA Novosti was told in the Delta Airlines press service, the prize was awarded to Gorbachev for his efforts to strengthen peace and to protect the environment in the world. The prize was presented to the ex-president of the USSR last Monday by chairman of the council of directors of the airlines Leo Moullin and president of the University of Georgia Michael Adams.
