Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Chechnya on Saturday. The head of state flew by helicopter to dominant height 776.0 where just over a year ago the sixth company of Pskov paratroopers died in an unequal battle. The Russian President laid flowers at the height and right away flew on to the populated locality of Khatuni. There Putin inspected one of special units and talked to Valery Baranov, commander of the joint grouping of forces. As the President said, one of the problems that should be solved today is financial and material maintenance of servicemen in Chechnya, in particular issue of "combat pay". According to him, this question will be examined at a meeting and appropriate decisions will be taken following its results. The head of state is accompanied by Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov, and Press Minister Mikhail Lesin. At the location of the 42nd division in Khankala, the Russian president held a meeting with heads of local administrations of the Chechen Republic.
