Bodyguards of the president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe attacked Monday an Australian protester during Mugabe's visit to Brussels, Belgium. Despite previous accusations raised against him by the international community, Robert Mugabe visits currently the EU capital as a respected head of state. An Australian protester attempted Monday to confront Mugabe as the president was leaving an official function. The man, loudly accusing Mugabe of murder, torture, and crimes against humanity was mercilessly beaten up by the bodyguards and left unconscious in the gutter. The incident happened in full view of TV cameras and was shown in Australia in the nightly news. It appears that neither journalists, nor Belgian security officers, presumably present at the scene, did not attempt to come to the man's rescue.
