Though the fate of Mir space station is predetermined, and it is to be scuttled within March 10 through 17, there is still a lot of fuss over this event. Tuesday night a meeting against Mir’s scuttling took place at Tverskaya street of Moscow. Fund for Maintenance of Space Research “Miru-Mir” organised the meeting. About 50 persons gathered at there, 10 television groups presented at the meeting. A guy, who passed himself off as a celibate priest (sic!), complained about the lack of interest in the meeting and criticised communist deputies, who “neglected this public rostrum and failed to keep their promise to take part in the meeting”. But the meeting broke up as soon as its participants had got free tickets for rock concert, which is to take place in cinema “Mir” as a protest against Mir station scuttling. And one more detail: it is unclear why the participants of the meeting chose black anarchic flag as their symbol.
