A passenger aircraft carrying 60 people crash-landed on a river in Java. Only one person died. The Boeing 737 flying between Lombok and Jakarta was forced to land during a violent storm. Fortunately, the aircraft remained practically intact during the crash-landing, in which the pilot skilfully managed to land in the middle of a river. The tail of the aircraft was a few metres from a deep crevice. 32 of the 60 passengers were taken to hospital, with 12 being interned, while one of the flight crew, a hostess, lost her life in the crash. The most likely cause of the accident was a lightning strike on the right wing.
