Russia's President Vladimir Putin welcomes Russian regions' using exterior resources in order to solve their local tasks. When speaking at a Wednesday State Council meeting in the Kremlin, Russia's President stressed that "regions had been recently using more and more exterior resources to solve their local tasks", which was highly important. This approach is worth welcoming, developing and supporting, the Russian Head of State said.
He believes the territories' work in international regional organizations of both economic and humanitarian orientation to be extremely promising. "We must do that in order to propagandize the Russian language, preserve the Russian peoples' national language and cultural heritage," the Russian Head of State pointed out.
Accordingly, he said that "pragmatism, equality of rights and mutually favorable partnership had already become principles of not only the Federal foreign policy, but also characteristics of regional approaches towards international issues." Putin expressed opinion that "regions' contribution into the national foreign policy can and must be increased." That is why now we need a more efficient instrument of federal support, according to Putin.
"Along with promotion of Russian companies' interests abroad, it is time to raise an issue of target support as well as regional economic interests," the President pointed out. He said that both the Federation and agents of international activity in the regions were equally interested in that.
There is also a significant potential in cooperation of central and regional departments as well as in solving the issues of human rights protection both abroad and in the country, Vladimir Putin stated.
