The US Consulate General in Vladivostok will celebrate Day of Martin Luther King in the Russian Far East on January 15th for the first time.
As RIA Novosti learned in the Consulate's press, culture and education department, the festivities were arranged jointly with the city's three state universities.
The programme includes reports by Vladivostok students, performances of jazz singer Natalia Meita and the Premiere youth ensemble and screening of videos.
The consulate reported that Day of Martin Luther King is a US state holiday which is timed to coincide with the birthday of this prominent public figure, i.e. January 15th, and is celebrated on the third Monday of the month.
