Australian troops are ready to go to Iraq
Amidst bush fires devastating large country areas of New South Wales and Victoria and Australians enjoying their usual 3-week Christmas holiday, the government announced our SAS regiment is ready to take on Iraq.
Acting Prime Minister John Anderson informed the media that all leave was cancelled and the troops are ready to go. The Australian Navy moved their largest frigates to the Garden Island base in New South Wales in preparation for their departure orders.
All radio and TV stations started showing government-sponsored anti-terrorist commercials. A friendly, well dressed man encourages us to be 'alert, but not alarmed' and report anybody engaged in suspicious activities. The ads already attracted adverse reaction from local Moslem groups, suspicious of being targeted by watchful population. Reportedly, there are 1,000,000 Moslems in Australia - a country with a population of 18M.
