The second generating unit of the Smolensk nuclear power station, due to stator damage on Saturday, is running at half-power, its public relations center reported.
On Friday, it said, a protective device triggered by an earth short-circuiting of the stator winding shut down the No.2 generator of the second unit.
At present, with a program under way to find out and remove the cause of the protection system's actuation, the generating unit is operating at 50 per cent capacity.
The No.1 and No.3 generating units are working at their rated power.
