LUKoil to stay in Azerbaijan

Due to the fact that there were reports in some mass media that LUKoil could sell its share in the Shakh-Deniz project, the press service of the company stated that LUKoil remained a participant of this project and was not considering quitting it.

A joint share of LUKoil and Italy-based Agip in the Shakh-Deniz project is 10 percent. LUKoil also stated that the Agip company, which had previously announced its intention to sell its share in the alliance, was currently reconsidering this decision.

LUKoil still considers Azerbaijan as one of strategic regions of its activities and is planning to implement a number of large projects in oil and gas production and oil product sales, the statement of the company's press service says.
