Russia Launches First Combat Training for New Drone Warfare Regiment

Russia’s New Drone Forces Begin Combat Training Near Moscow

Russia has begun combat training for a newly created branch of its armed forces dedicated to unmanned systems, according to information published on the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry reported that the training exercises are taking place at one of the training grounds within the Moscow Military District.

Drone Operators Train for Battlefield Conditions

During the exercises, FPV drone operators practiced countering enemy unmanned systems and conducted drills focused on maneuvering drone complexes across varied terrain.

“FPV drone operators have learned to counter hostile unmanned systems and carried out training on relocating equipment under different terrain conditions,” the Defense Ministry said.

Unmanned Systems Become a Separate Military Branch

The establishment of unmanned systems forces reflects Russia’s growing emphasis on drone warfare and battlefield automation.

Earlier reports indicated that the new branch has adopted an official emblem featuring a crossed arrow and sword, combined with a winged microchip bearing a star at the intersection, symbolizing the integration of traditional combat roles with advanced technology.
