Narcotics trafficking from Afghanistan to Russia will total 3600 tons this year, said Deputy Director of Federal Illegal Drug Trade Control Department Alexander Mikhailov. He said it was possible to lower the quantity of illegal drugs coming into Russia by creating a single security belt system around Afghanistan. 'We have a written agreement with other CIS countries and shall try to create a single system of control,' said Mikhailov. He added that in the battle with narcotics trafficking it was also necessary to lower the demand for narcotics.
