According to preliminary data, four districts of Dagestan (Russian republic in the North Caucasus) are still without communications and electric energy after a hurricane that hit this region last weekend.
The press service of the Southern regional center of Russia's emergencies ministry told RIA Novosti that by yesterday evening the aftermath of the hurricane was eliminated in 18 districts. 220 populated localities are in the area of the emergency.
The hurricane wind, whose force reached 40 mps, hit Dagestan's mountainous districts in the early hours of March 6. Three people died. Houses in mountainous settlements were destroyed, communications disrupted.
