A 4.6 Richter scale earthquake hit the Altai Republic (an autonomous republic on the Russian-Chinese and Russian-Kazakh borders) at 4.23 Moscow time today. Its epicentre is 64 kilometres to the south-east of Aktash village (the Ulagansky district), the Altai Emergencies Ministry said.
Nothing was reported on victims and destruction.
The earthquake was felt in Gorno-Altaisk, the administrative centre located 400 kilometres away from the epicentre.
A series of earth tremors began on September 27 evening. It was the strongest earthquake, more than 8 on the Richter scale. Some 1,000 earth tremors have been fixed since then.
