Russian Frontier Guards arrested a French cyclist, who lost his way on the Russo-Finnish border.
The 21-year-old French citizen was detained on Tuesday by frontier guards of the Solntsevo checkpoint of the Sortavalsky frontier guard detachment, the press-service of the North-Western regional Frontier Guard Department of the Russian Federal Security Service reported.
The young French cyclist was travelling across Finland and intended to take a ride along the border with Russia but lost his way in the woods and accidentally crossed the border.
The French had a small amount of money on him, road maps, a driver's licence and a French citizen's ID.
At present, the detained is being kept in a pre-trial detention centre of the frontier guard detachment. He will be later handed over to the Finnish authorities.
