Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov has called the Tuesday terrorist attack in Jerusalem "a monstrous crime not to be justified". There, a suicide terrorist blasted a bus, killing over 20 people, including children, and injuring 130.
"Russia, which has many times been the victim of such criminal and inhuman acts, receives with anguish of mind reports about new victims of terror", he said on Wednesday.
The fact that the Palestinian leadership with Mahmoud Abbas at the head has without delay and resolutely condemned this terrorist attack and ordered to find those who are responsible for "is another proof that terror has nothing in common with the struggle for legitimate rights of the people of Palestine", Igor Ivanov said.
He drew the attention to the fact that terrorist attacks are being carried out at a time when there is a hope for a political settlement, when the parties are meeting each other half way to reduce tension.
"The future of the peace process in the Middle East, and hence the fate of the Israeli and Palestinian people, must not be farmed out to the extremist forces. The best answer to terrorists is, alongside the strengthening of the security measures, to continue the dialogue and promote the process of settlement in keeping with the roadmap", the Russian foreign minister believes.
