A database containing detailed information about the subscribers of St. Petersburg's major telecommunications companies came on the Russian market in a CD format. The database includes such confidential information as the subscribers' addresses, cellular phone numbers as well as home telephone numbers.
This appears to be the largest media leak in Russian history as the confidential information involves millions of St. Petersburg's residents. Representatives of telecommunications companies injured believe the information was stolen from a law-enforcement agency.
The offers to buy the database CDs emerged on the Internet at the end of the last week, the Kommersant newspaper reported.
