Hope That Assassination of Parliament Member Yushenkov Will Be Exposed is Increasing

"The investigation of the murder of State Duma deputy Sergei Yushenkov shows progress," Russia's Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov said.

Evidence is collected by small bits, the investigators have restored the obliterated number of the assassin's pistol, Gryzlov told reporters on Wednesday.

The new clues that have appeared will help in the next moves to be taken in the coming few days, he said.

The results of the investigation give hope that the police will find the perpetrator and the contractor of the murder, the Interior Minister stressed.

"Loud" crimes associated with the assassinations of politicians and businessmen cause broad reverberations, he said. However, in the past five years the incidence of such crimes has been on the decline, which means that a barrier to them can be put up, the minister pointed out.

Some of the "loud" crimes have already been solved.

The persons suspected of assassinating parliament member Galina Starovoitova in St. Petersburg have been arrested and give testimony, and the assassination of Oblonsky, administration chief of Zelenograd, a town near Moscow, has been solved.
