Iraq's Ambassador to Russia Abbas Khalaf Kunfud has called April 8th a "black day" in the history of international journalism.
Yesterday, two journalists, cameramen of the Reuters agency and Spain's Telecinco, were killed in a US attack on the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad. On Tuesday, US missiles attacked the central office of the Qatar al-Jazeera broadcaster located in central Baghdad, next to the Ministry of Information, virtually destroying the building. Two US missiles killed al-Jazeera's correspondent, Tareq Awub, and wounded its cameraman. Besides the United States attacked the reporters' station of a satellite channel in Abu Dhabi.
On Wednesday, Iraq's Ambassador to Russia Abbas Khalaf Kunfud spoke to the reporters' crew of the Russian NTV company who said they only "survived by miracle" because they were underneath the al-Jazeera office during the US attack, the Ambassador said at a press-conference.
