A terrorist group, which recently staged a series of explosions in the Stavropol Territory, was knocked together in Karachayev-Cherkessia [a Russian Federation republic in the North Caucasus], in particular in the Ust-Dzhegutinsk Region and the village of Moskovsky, said republican Interior Minister Alexander Papura.
The investigation has established that the group consisted of a score of young people aged 16 to 25, who underwent special training in subversive operations (including explosives) in the Chechen camps of Jordanian terrorist Khattab, reported Papura. Four of these young people are already giving testimony and some of them are being checked for involvement in the terrorist acts. According to the minister, most of these young people "succumbed to the influence of Wahhabism." The republican Interior Ministry is working to expose and detain criminals and to preclude illegal acts and emergency situations, said Alexander Papura. Special operations are held, during which quite a few wanted criminals are detained and more explosives and explosive devices, weapons and munitions are confiscated than ever before.
