The works on the Kursk's hull have been halted on the grounds of the bad weather. Igor Dygalo, the Aide to the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, reported on Thursday that deep water works had been postponed because of the sea swell, which had reached 4 points. In his words, there have been installed seven hydraulic grippers by now. If the weather conditions in the operation zone get better by the end of Thursday, a decision will be made to resume the deep water works on installation of the other nineteen hydraulic grippers. The Kursk salvage operation zone is currently guarded by the Special Naval Expedition force under the command of Vice-Admiral Mikhail Motsak. Apart from these vessels, there are the Giant-4 barge and its support sea tugs the Atrek and the Smith Wijs, as well as the Mayo special vessel for diving works.
