Moscow Has Reliable Information That Chechens Fight With The Taliban

The command of the Russian Federal Frontier Service believes it quite possible that the Chechen militants who are fighting in Afghanistan in the ranks of the Taliban will make an attempt to break into Tajikistan. RIA Novosti was told about it by Chief of the Main Headquarters of the Russian Federal Frontier Service Nikolai Reznichenko. According to him, the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan may result in a situation when the Chechen militants now fighting in that country will try to break through across the Tajik-Afghan border. The general said that the command of the Federal Frontier Service "disposes of reliable information" that Chechen militants are fighting in the ranks of the Taliban movement. It will be recalled that part of the Tajik-Afghan border is defended by Russian frontier-guards.
