An amusement park attraction in Saudi Arabia suffered a devastating malfunction, injuring at least 23 people, three of whom are in critical condition. The incident occurred at the Green Mountain Park near the city of Taif, in the Al-Hada region, and was first reported by Khaleej Times.
The accident involved the “360 Degrees” ride, which was reportedly operating at full capacity when the central structure suddenly snapped. Dramatic footage circulated on social media shows the ride swinging back and forth, ascending and rotating before the central frame splits in half. The platform, carrying numerous riders, plummets to the ground and violently collides with the opposing structure.
According to eyewitness video, one individual was flung several meters from the ride upon impact, emphasizing the violent nature of the collapse.
The Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that several hospitals in Taif declared a state of emergency in response. Victims were initially treated at the scene before being transferred to various medical facilities for further care.
Security services and regulatory authorities have launched an urgent investigation to determine the cause of the catastrophic failure. Authorities aim to assess any violations or mechanical faults that may have contributed to the incident.
The tragedy has sparked public concern over amusement park safety standards in the kingdom, as the video of the collapse continues to go viral across platforms.
