At least 14 people have died and dozens more are reported trapped in debris after a five-storey building collapsed in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Reports said that several homes have also collapsed. Police and witnesses said at least 50 people were hurt. Police blamed bad construction for the collapse of the building, Indian Express reports.
Officials said the originally four-storey building was built on what was once a canal and the owner had been adding another storey to it.
The cabinet minister in charge of overseeing local government, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, said the government had ordered an investigation into the collapse, Irish Examiner reports.
