Cardiologist Aurelio Rojas has advised including three fruits in the winter diet to help improve overall health, according to an interview published by Deia.
During the colder months, Rojas recommends eating apples daily, as they are rich in dietary fiber that helps reduce blood cholesterol levels.
He noted that apples also help regulate blood sugar and cholesterol, which in turn lowers the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Oranges, the cardiologist explained, contain high levels of vitamin C and flavonoids. These compounds strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation in the body, and improve vascular health.
Adding kiwi to the diet can help control blood pressure and support heart health, Rojas added, making it another valuable fruit choice during the winter season.
