Martha Stewart, the diva of salads and television, was sentenced to 5 months in prison for her part in the stock trading scandal of ImClone.
She was also fined $30,000.00.
But this barely offsets the money she saved using insider information, or the profit she gained from it.
Stewart was expected to be sentenced to 10 – 16 months, but the judge ruled only 5 months.
Ms. Stewart said in a shaky voice: “Remember all the good I have done” as she appealed to Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum. Stewart, though, is being allowed to continue her freedom while she appeals the conviction.
Had mortal man done the same they would expect to see a sentence of 10 years.
