Bodybuilder nearly loses his arms trying to look like the Incredible Hulk

Brazilian bodybuilder Romario Dos Santos was doing his best to try to look like the Incredible Hulk, his favorite fictional character.

Santos, 25, would inject oil and alcohol into his arms as he was trying to make his muscles grow to look like the fictional character. As a result of those childish efforts, the man risked losing his both arms. Santos has said that the combination is addictive, which is why his life had spiraled out of control.

"I saw some really big guys in the gym with huge arms and I started to make friends with them," Santos said. "They introduced me to synthol and I got excited about the results - I lost control."

As the man says, his muscles started hardening, reaching the point when he was no longer able to make his injections. "I decided the only thing I could do was buy special needles to inject. The kind of needles used on bulls - there are no stronger needles around - I know it seems stupid but I had to get my synthol fix," he said.

Santos was hospitalized at a time when his wife was six month pregnant. The man was close to suffering from kidney failure. To make matters worse, doctors said that they would have to amputate at least one of his arms.

Fortunately, the amputation was not necessary as doctors removed the synthol rocks that had formed in the man's arms.

Today, Santos says he is committed to staying clean, although he is still determined to become a professional bodybuilder.
