Russian player Marat Safin has qualified for the season-ending Shanghai tournament by beating David Nalbandian at the Paris Masters. Safin strolled to a straight sets victory 6:3, 6:2.
Accordingly, this means that Safin has scored enough points to take him into the Shanghai tournament that will feature the world's top eight ranked players at the end of the year.
Safin is the third player after Australian Lleyton Hewiit and American Andre Agassi to book himself a place in the tournament. The Paris Masters will sort out who the other five players will be.
