Russian businessmen are planning a trip to Gabon in May, Paul Toungui, Gabon's Minister of Mines, Energy Resources, Oil and Hydro Resources, said on Thursday at a meeting between a delegation of the Republic of Gabon and St. Petersburg Governor Vladimir Yakovlev. The agreement was reached the day before in Moscow when Gabon's delegation visited the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Toungui said. He proposed that St. Petersburg businessmen should also join in. Toungui described prospects for possible cooperation between Russian businessmen and the Republic of Gabon. There are several mining licences still available, he said. Russian businessmen, he indicated, could go in gold and diamond mining. Water Resources and Fisheries Minister Richard Onouviet noted that the republic is planning to build a fish-processing factory. "Russians would do well to think of possible participation in its construction," he said.
