U.S. dollar, gold lower in European morning trading

The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold fell.

The euro traded at US$1.3341, up from US$1.3322 late Wednesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

_117.45 Japanese yen, up from 116.88

_1.2142 Swiss francs, down from 1.2154

_1.1586 Canadian dollars, down from 1.1587

The British pound traded at US$1.9637, up from US$1.9619.

Gold traded in London at US$664.90 per troy ounce, down from US$666.20 late Wednesday.

In Zurich, gold traded at US $663.00, down from US$665.00.

Gold fell 40 cents in Hong Kong to US$665.40.

Silver opened in London at US$13.28 per troy ounce, down from US$13.37.
