An agreement on Russia's nuclear fuel supplies to Iran, worked out by the two countries' nuclear specialists, will be negotiated in the Russian Foreign Ministry. It is to be signed following the procedure, Russian Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev said at a briefing in Moscow Friday.
According to him, the document will officially strengthen the agreement on supplying nuclear fuel to the Iranian nuclear power station in Bushehr, in whose construction Russia is participating. The agreement was reached this week in the course of the Russian minister's visit to Iran.
Under the draft agreement, spent fuel will be returned to Russia.
The Minister brushed aside the US complaints against Russia's forthcoming nuclear fuel supplies as unfounded. The supplies will be monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency in accordance with its rules and other international agreements, the Russian Atomic Energy Minister emphasized.
